Barefoot runner review
I have been a barefoot runner for over 5 years and only use a foot covering when running off road through forests and gravel paths. In the past I have used a Vibram New Balance minimus. Things I love about the Furoshiki - incredibly lightweight on my foot - easy to carry in my bag/car/hiking pack - they dry incredibly quickly - great protection for the soles of my feet from sticks and stones Things it took awhile to get used to - it felt unusual running down hill without a toe box, felt like I was going to slip past the front of the shoe - because it isn't a super tight wrap to my foot, the bottom of the shoe tends to lift slower/stick to wet muddy surfaces which feels like I'm leaving the heel behind when I lift my foot Things I would improve - the finishing inside the toe box area was quite rough and irritated the tips of my toes for awhile until they got used to it - the velcro pieces are very short. I wear a xs and would like to be able to wrap the sides tighter but I'm out of velcro. I think as the shoes natural stretch this will become even worse. Extending the velcro on the back of the shoes and on the sides would be an easy fix. Overall they are a great barefoot substitute, lightweight but giving me protection when I need it.
