I just wanted to update my earlier review. I have worn these nonstop since buying them Cyber Monday: to work, around town, in the woods. It is true love. They kept me warm the two recent days we hit -2 degrees F with no issues- even insulated boots used to make my toes cold. I have tried both Katona's microspikes and YakTraks. I would have to say that though I prefer microspikes historically, the YakTraks are probably better suited for these overall. The microspikes have more tension which does limit your toe motion and can make your toes cold and cause super slight pressure soreness on a random toe. I will probably tinker with traction ideas. The old school leather buckle crampons would be better than anything g relying on tension and a structured shoe base. Also these still look great even after significant salt exposure over the past week. I do brush the snow off the ties when I come in. Thank you, Vibram! Even have done a little trail running in these. I have learned from trying the felt boots that the shearling is a great benefit if you fell between sizes and want to size up. With a good medium or heavy wool sock, needed for those subzero days to be cozy, they have been perfect.
