It’s been said success comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it. Roquita Coleman-Williams is a living example of this. Coleman-Williams has a knack for turning opportunity into success. Recognized nationally and internationally; she has been awarded Top 40 under 40, Memphis Business Journal Super Women in Business, Rising Stars of North American Railroads all while advocating for diversity and gender inclusion in transportation workforces across North America. She has permanently changed the landscape in industries where women hold less than 5% of the leadership roles. In a groundbreaking role, she was named in 2011 as 63rd president, becoming the first African American of the Memphis World Trade Club. After 20 years in the transportation industry, Coleman-Williams answered the ultimate call in the railroad industry. A few months shy of her 40th birthday, she became one of a few women to earn a conductor’s certification on a class 1 railroad in the US. As an industry leader, she can now speak with a new earnestness about overcoming obstacles in male dominated industries.

Just like William's professional achievements, her personal  accomplishments are the result of strength, determination and endurance built one step at a time.  In 2010 as an active Bikram yoga practitioner, she bought her first pair of Vibram  for a 10 day spiritual retreat in Costa Rica. It was the steps that she took during this trip that personally changed her life. On a 5 mile meditative hike in Limon, she decided to integrate her personal commitments to explore, travel, and serve her community with a challenging career dominated by men.

She returned home to Memphis TN and founded Live While Making a Living. Live a career philosophy that encourages professionals to bring 100 percent of themselves to their work by integrating work and life goals.

Williams teaches professionals how to become company ambassadors, how to leader in service to their communities and how to leverage their passion to ensure purpose in all they do.

To the process of earning a living.

In 2017, Roquita celebrated her 40th birthday with her very first 5k raising nearly $2,000 for St Jude's Children's Hospital. She completed the race just as she did in 2011 in a pair Vibrams. After the success of this 5K run, she and her son Jamie also a adventurer decided to become Brand Ambassadors for Vibram, committing the proceeds of their ambassadorship to St Jude's Children Hospital. Roquita and Jamie hope all active Memphians will join them in trying out this life style brand!

Favorite Vibram is the leather Jaya LR (2011)
